Specialism 08 · Solutions & Architecture

Software & solutions architects for iGaming.

Solutions, enterprise and software architects who shape the stack. Multi-jurisdiction platforms, complex integrations, tech decisions with a long shadow. We place the architects who can see both the code and the business.

Architecture in iGaming

Decisions with a five-year shadow.

Architecture in iGaming is a role with weight. Choices about integration patterns, event streams, database platforms, cloud vendors, game aggregation layers, PSP arrangements and reporting pipelines echo for years. The right architect combines deep systems thinking with commercial judgement and the ability to bring engineers along. The wrong hire looks great on paper and produces slides that no one implements.

The scope varies by title. Software architects sit close to code and set patterns across a single product. Solutions architects design integrations, often across vendors and third parties. Enterprise architects zoom out across the whole business, aligning tech to strategy. Principal and chief architects sit at the top of that stack, usually reporting into a CTO. What holds across all of them is the same core skill: seeing the second-order consequences of a decision before it is made.

iGaming makes that especially hard. Multi-jurisdiction licensing constrains where data lives. Regulator reporting shapes what the data layer has to do. Game aggregators and PSPs come with their own integration debt. Compliance evolves annually. The architects we place have lived through this kind of complexity, either in iGaming directly or in fintech, payments and other regulated real-money sectors where the same patterns recur.

The architect talent market in iGaming is small, senior and rarely advertised. Strong solutions and enterprise architects with real regulated-industry track records are almost always employed, often for years, and reaching them requires a network rather than a job board. Compensation is highly variable and depends heavily on scope, equity arrangements and reporting line. We handle these searches personally, we brief the market carefully, and we protect candidate confidentiality throughout. For senior architecture hires this is often the difference between a real shortlist and a stalled search.

What we assess

More than pattern names.

Knowing the pattern is the entry level. We assess how a candidate thinks about trade-offs, communicates the design, and gets engineers to actually implement what was agreed.

Why a specialist

Why architect hiring takes a specialist.

We know architecture in iGaming

Aggregators, PSPs, PAM, wallet, sportsbook and casino. We know the architectural patterns operators actually run.

We assess judgement

We look at how a candidate makes trade-offs, communicates decisions and lands them with engineering, not just how they draw diagrams.

We understand regulated architecture

Data residency, evidence, jurisdictional reporting. We brief candidates on the constraints that shape the design space.

A European network

Architects we know personally across Malta, Gibraltar, Cyprus, the UK and remote Europe.

FAQ

Architect hiring, answered.

What is the difference between a software, solutions and enterprise architect?

Broadly, software architects sit close to code, solutions architects design across products and vendors, and enterprise architects align technology to overall business strategy. Titles vary by operator, so the actual scope matters more than the label.

Do you place contract architects?

Yes. Contract and permanent, on-site and fully remote across Malta, Gibraltar, Cyprus, the UK and remote Europe.

Do architects need iGaming experience specifically?

Often, yes. Where the role demands specific iGaming patterns we prioritise it. Elsewhere we widen to strong architects from fintech, payments and other regulated real-money sectors.

How quickly can I have a shortlist?

Typically ten to fifteen working days for architect roles, given the seniority and search depth involved.

What salary ranges should we expect for architect roles?

Architect compensation varies widely by scope, seniority and reporting line. Solutions architects in Malta typically sit €80-110k, enterprise architects €100-140k, principal and chief architects €130-180k and above, often with meaningful equity or bonus structures. UK and fully remote European roles carry different bands. We share current market data on the specific role during the intake conversation.

Hiring an architect?

Send over the job spec or a rough brief, and within one working day we'll come back with a view on the current market, realistic salary bands, likely time to shortlist, and whether we already have candidates worth introducing. If you're not quite ready to run a full search, we can also help you scope the role first.
